About Jeremy Roll
Jeremy Roll is the partner to Grand Hawk Union in the development of Knights of the Exploding Table. He’s been working with Unity for a short while now, but has a much better grasp on the 3D modeling program, Blender, where he can model, rig, and animate. He’s hoping that he might be able work on models that might be of interest to others and sell them independently of the games he develops.
Life
Jeremy hasn’t actually been a game developer for long as this is his first real project. Before this, he has actually spent several jobs working for schools. He has 12 units for Early Childhood Education and has worked as a preschool teacher. He currently works as an after-school enrichment teacher, teaching children how design and code video games and also teaching children how to play Minecraft. He wishes to see Knights of the Exploding Table all the way through to the end, hoping to see if fully committing to video game development is the right choice for his career. Looking back, the first job he ever wanted since he was a child was to make video games but the desire to do such slowly faded as he grew up. Perhaps now is the time for his original childhood dream to come back alive.
Skills and Education
Though Jeremy went to college majoring in game design, he didn't finish it out as he felt that he didn’t learn nearly enough in the classes to make his efforts worth it. Since having begun work with Grand Hawk Union, however, Jeremy learned more about game development, design, 3D Modeling, rigging and animating from both YouTube and Shane than college could teach him. Having both amassed and played a wide variety of games over the course of his life, Jeremy has the personal experience and know-how to help implement a strong goal for his games to reach. He also operates as as notable quality assurance tester for the game. He already had plenty of experience breaking Shane’s prior Unity creations, so this felt like a no-brainer for him.
Hobbies
Jeremy has spent more time playing video games than he has being productive with his life, which ends up being more helpful if one wishes to make video games. Countless hours with many Nintendo games, including the Super Mario Bros. series, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Donkey Kong, Star Fox, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Party, Pokemon, and Metroid. However, he also has a much further reach with non-Nintendo games; Halo, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Assassin’s Creed, Unreal Tournament 99, Quake III: Arena, Dark Souls & Elden Ring, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, plenty of Star Wars games like Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, the original 2 Battlefront titles, The Old Republic, Episode 1 Podracer, Rogue Squadron, Jedi: Fallen Order, and the Jedi Knight series. He’s also dabbled in plenty of Spider-man games, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Soul Calibur, Sonic the Hedgehog, WWF: No Mercy, Overwatch, Gears of War, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Dead By Daylight, Dying Light, Minecraft, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Metal Gear Solid, the Namco arcade classics, and finally Bomberman. Outside of video games, he regularly joins Shane in Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e having been a part of Shane’s first ever campaign. Typically a player but a budding Dungeon Master himself, always thinking of new character concepts, gameplay ideas, and exploring the avenues where the game can be made more fun or interesting. He once played a half-elf sorcerer noble whom became king, only to be assassinated and have Shane’s character become king instead.
